Freds Pass Rural Show
Launching 40 years of ‘rural memories’ for Freds Pass Rural Show in 2019!!
Over the last 40 years it is estimated that in excess of half a million Territorian’s have had an opportunity to sample a ‘unique slice of rural life’ through a family visit to the iconic Freds Pass Rural Show. 2019 will see a Ruby Red celebration of this significant milestone.
The show had humble beginnings, as a small Apex run rural fete for the Howard Springs Primary School, and was run under an independent committee until 2006. As the show grew in size, the Freds Pass Reserve Board took over management of the event. 2014 marked the return to an independently run event steered by an enthusiastic show committee (run as an Incorporated Association) who aims to continually build, develop and promote this fantastic event which attracts more than 25,000 people over the two day period.
The show is known for its strong rural theming with a vast range of equestrian events, livestock judging, animal displays, an exhibition hall showcasing the communities many talents, wood chopping exhibition, side show alley, Music talent quests, NT Young Rural Achiever Awards and a the vast array of poultry and produce. It has truly become an annual event where ‘urban meets rural’.
“As a committee we look forward to bringing a very memorable Freds Pass Rural Show to the Northern Territory community in 2019. We will build on the huge success we have had in previous years with a vast array of activities, family fun and ‘nationally ‘recognized chefs and stage performers –with a few exciting additional surprises!” said Freds Pass Rural Show committee Chair, Karen Relph. “In addition we will take an opportunity to honor the people, supporters and events that have contributed to take the show to where it is today” said Karen.
Our popular Paddock to Plate marquee is a dedicated space where we invite local producers to offer tastings and talk about how their product is made. We also invite chefs to stage cooking demonstrations using some of the local produce on offer.
Children are not forgotten as free children's activities run on both days of the show, and our Outback Track bags provide fun and goodies as kids search for the participating site holders to collect the give-aways. Saturday and Sunday feature exciting entertainment acts focusing on utilising local talent wherever possible. On Saturday night everyone gathers for a spectacular fireworks display, and then party on to great live entertainment under the stars.
The Freds Pass Rural Show is also a highly effective platform for business and industry to come on board as Exhibitors and Sponsors. It also allows sporting bodies & recreations to showcase themselves as well as have the ability to raise much needed funds for their clubs/organisations. The next few weeks will provide a great opportunity for the business sector to talk with our ‘pro-active’ committee and explore these valuable opportunities.
See you there at Your Show!
